Mark Rober’s Squirrel Maze

In the video, Mark Rober noticed that squirrels kept stealing food from his bird feeder, even when he tried to stop them. Instead of just getting rid of the squirrels, he decided to build a fun and tricky obstacle course for them. The goal was to challenge the squirrels while protecting the birdseed. I think the problem was partly solved. The squirrels didn’t stop trying, but the maze made it harder for them and gave Mark a fun way to see how smart they are. So, the problem was solved in a creative way that focused more on learning and fun than just keeping squirrels away.

At first, I might have just tried to block the squirrels or move the bird feeder. But after watching the video, I think Mark’s way is better. He used engineering and creativity to solve the problem in a fun and interesting way. I like how he tested ideas and changed the design based on what the squirrels did. If I had to do it differently, maybe I’d try a feeder that only birds can open—but that wouldn’t be as exciting. His way was more about learning and enjoying the process, not just stopping the squirrels.

This video shows the steps of engineering really well. Mark found a problem, came up with ideas, built something, tested it, and improved it. That’s just like what we’re doing in our engineering proposals. He paid attention to how the squirrels acted and changed his design to fit what he saw. In our projects, we also need to think about who we’re helping and how they will use our solution. This video reminds me that engineering can be fun and that it’s okay to try new things, make mistakes, and keep improving your design. its for mark robers squirrel youtube video
